What has the Solar Plexus center of the Human Design System to do with emotional intelligence?

This personal development system is combining old wisdom with new science. It’s been introduced in 1990 and in 2023 it is gaining visibility and the world wide popularity of the system is growing every day. The Washington Post actually mentioned Human Design in their “what is hot in 2023” list.  Human Design is the science of differentiation and it is all about knowing yourself, embrace your unique energy and become aware of your natural and true self. In this article I will share why I am so enthusiastic about this personal development system and share an insight that created a positive impact in my daily life.

Emotions are complex psychological states that are typically associated with feelings of pleasure or displeasure, and are influenced by personal experiences, cultural and societal factors, and biological processes.

Emotions can range from positive feelings such as happiness, love, and excitement, to negative emotions such as anger, fear, and sadness.

Energy in motion or Emotions are usually experienced in response to specific stimuli or events, and are often accompanied by physical changes, such as an increased heart rate, sweating, or changes in body temperature.

They play an important role in our lives, influencing our behavior, thoughts, and decisions, and helping us to navigate the world and build relationships with others.

Emotions are an integral part of what makes us human and are essential for our survival and well-being. Understanding and managing our emotions can help us to lead happier, more fulfilling lives and improve our relationships with others.

In the Human Design System our Solar Plexus definition gives us the insight how you experience emotions.

The Solar Plexus center of the Human Design System
The center of Emotional Intelligence

We always think everyone is the same, but Human Design is called the science of differentiation for a reason.  And you can think of your Human Design chart as a navigation tool to your unique natural self.

If you look at this particular Solar Plexus center. We all think that’s how it works for everyone what we feel or don’t feel. In this case that only holds true for half of humanity. And then there are still of nuances. We are all unique.

What I find so funny about this center is that “opposites attract.” When I look at connection charts of two people together you often see that one partner is emotionally defined and the other is actually receptive to emotions with an open or undefined Solar Plexus.

One partner plays his or her emotions on their personal “radio” and throws their feelings into the ether. Completely unconsciously of course. While the other, like an antenna, picks up the emotions of others, but sets the amplifier to volume 6 and “plays back” the emotions.

With a defined Solar Plexus you always feel something, but it is precisely those with whom it is open that are characterized as “sensitive” “sensitive” and “drama queen.” When an confrontation occurs one person it feels like “I’m just having my say,” while the other feels such a strong tsunami of anger being poured over them that they think it will never be right again. And so their counter-reaction is often much stronger than the other expects. And so those emotions echo through space.

Insight #1 - How to harness your Emotional Intelligence

When I learned that my Solar Plexus is undefined so many pieces of the puzzle fell into place. I recognized myself in the text that I read about this center and couldn’t believe my eyes when I learned about the downfalls of this “openness”.

I had always thought that an emotion was always “my fault”. I had done or sad something that sparked the confrontation and that was something I was avoiding at all costs. As a young child I already learned that it is better to “be nice” and so I developed a mechanism of pleasing everyone around me. At my own cost of course.

In my Human Design experience I started to observe the emotions that I was feeling. When did they occur? If I walked away from the confrontation and I went on a walk in the forest by myself. Did I still feel these strong feeling? Or did they just vanish and I almost forgot that I felt so strongly just moments ago?

Learning about how to work with my undefined Solar Plexus is perhaps the biggest change that I notice in my personal development journey.

Do you know if your Solar Plexus is defined and therefor has a color in your chart? Or is your Solar Plexus open or undefined like it is my chart?
